    Hi Dan,

    MY ramps is finally working
but in makelangelo software my new makelangelo has the id “-1” and everytime I connect it I have to change the machine settings and machine size.

    thanks

    1. great news
    2. maybe starting with double pen holder (like double extruder) is a better idea. I’ve found this “Servo actuator for pull and push” on thingiverse / https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2305061 /
probably “secondary pen down” angle will be needed on software.
    3. what kind of few changes? / I have an extra couple of endstops
    4. PLEASEEEEEEEE DO
    5. let me put it this way: different pen down angles for different lenght of lines. for example: if the line is long (let’s say 20 cm) pen will be closer to paper, if the line is short (5cm) pen/brush will be far ( I currently do some experiments with brushes, so any dynamic pressure can be sexy)

more of a “these are the stuff to buy/parts to print/ and step by step installation (dummies) tutorial

    as a makelangelo fan:

    wireless connection
    tool/pen changer
endstop usage / easier homing and easier machine size control
easier usage without LCD ( skipping “click to continue” step ) maybe someone shares the gcode for skipping that step
different approach to Z axis / being able to use brush and getting different linewidhts with servo angles

    would be perfect

    fantasies:
    flying makelangelo
    wacom2makelangelo or wacom2gcode2makelangelo / realtime drawing
DIY tutorial for dummies like me

    still. I love my makelangelo

    hi @richyrich140db2000

I am also trying to build one with ramps board for sometime. finally managed to work it (almost)
    problems I have encountered:
    power problems:
I have tired different power suplies. finally got it working with 12V 5A power supply / quite not sure with wiring though… just using 11A sockets for now

    jumpers
it took me couple of days to realize that I have did not put jumpers under one of the motor drives. (motor was just vibrating)
also in order to power servo, I have to put a jumper to 5a/vcc slots (they moved it to a different place on different ramps versions (also took 2 days to find)
and I am using a big servo / I think it requires more power and causing problems (I will try a micro servo)

LCD was not working / first it was due to power&usb cable problem, and later because of using wrong sockets ( I am using the original LCD Dan sent)
I still cannot drive motors with LCD..

    arduino:
my mega is cheap chinese model, it is not working with mac, I managed to upload the firmware with mac but makelangelo software never sees it on mac 🙁
also have problems with usb cables…
also in my first attempt I burnt my ramps MOSFET’s

right now I am dealing with

now motors are working / although moves up instead of down / but I think there is solution somewere on the forum
and motors are moving faster!!! instead of 1cm they move ~3cm

    hope this helps

    thank you all..
I was desperate that day because I was in a hurry to complete a piece of work. That is why I wrote to forum before checking everything..

    1. I have removed my LCD because it makes it harder to carry my makelangelo around. As far as I remember “click to continue” button used appear on earlier versions of makelangelo software on computer. (maybe a checkbox for “LCD availability” in software settings can be helpful)
    2. my board is RUMBA
    3. my quick solution was starting from line 10 :}
    4. it is good to know that checking color scheme is important, although I mostly work with single color.

    thanks again.

    Thanks

I first turned it to backwards and later realized that I have to switch the motors as well. Everything seems fine (also I unplugged the screen and somehow it seems like it performs better…)
    anyways,

since we have a conversation going here
may I ask you about an idea.

controlling makelangelo with hand gestures (like leap motion)
or even better with a Wacom tablet…
basically is realtime drawing with makelangelo possible?
I believe it is. I would like to know your opinion..

    thanks again

    Hi Dan,

    I love my Makelangelo, it is kinda my third arm :}}
I will be really happy if you can help me to sort this out.

    Thanks

    tried, but no
home is defined but no movement

one detail: after turning the knob for 10 times it sometimes randomly moves 1 cm

how can I invert the motor?
since 7.15.5 there is no invert checkbox in the machine settings

    hi Dan, thank you

I have never played/changed any settings in firmware.
I have downloaded arduino and loaded firmware_rumba.ino file
    verified
    it said
/Users/tmavitan/Downloads/MarginallyClever-Makelangelo-firmware-c86acee/firmware_rumba/firmware_rumba.ino: In function ‘float parseNumber(char, float)’:
/Users/tmavitan/Downloads/MarginallyClever-Makelangelo-firmware-c86acee/firmware_rumba/firmware_rumba.ino:583:13: warning: ISO C++ forbids comparison between pointer and integer [-fpermissive]
    while(ptr>1 && *ptr && ptr<serialBuffer+sofar) { // walk to the end
    ^

Sketch uses 37,340 bytes (14%) of program storage space. Maximum is 253,952 bytes.
Global variables use 3,873 bytes (47%) of dynamic memory, leaving 4,319 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 8,192 bytes.

    then uploaded
is there anything more I should be doing

machine sizes are same as before nothing changed

I am no developer just an artist/sculptor
and for my upcoming exhibition I am really using my makelangelo so I am really need it working REALLYYYYYY

I was using 7.6 but beacuse I was not being able to make it larger than 100cm
today I downloaded 7.8 and suddenly things started to change. when I realised it was not working accordingly, I updated firmware. but that was not the cause

I also tried to work with 7.6 but it refuses to work with 7 firmware
    I really need help

    thanks again

I have tried couple of different paper sizes. A3 and A4 they are (borders) definitely small as well, Pulleys or belts might be the problem but I am using the original ones you have sent me
