See a gallery of art done with the Makelangelo.
Bonus points for sharing the gcode file.
Combo points for making gcode outside the DrawbotGUI program.2013-04-16 at 21:53 #6336EdmondsLibrarianParticipanthttp://smog.edmonds.wednet.edu/wordpress/mwk8techblog/?attachment_id=237
If you are often asked how you made your art, you might consider using part of this PowerPoint.
It answered a lot of basic questions folks asked at my school art show, and allowed visitors to ask even more meaningful questions. Feel free to make it even better and repost! Here’s a sample image of folks gathering round the Art. I like how it’s interesting enough for visitors to take pictures of it!

2014-10-03 at 18:44 #6340AnonymousInactiveTest run of update 78, crosshatch conversion, 140 minute run. Thanks to Dan for the support in moving to update 78 with a DIY drawbot using wooden bobbins and kite string.

I’m working on the calibration, but not so easy.2015-05-05 at 14:36 #6343AnonymousInactiveWe had a setup on an old drafting table in the middle of a shopping mall for about two weeks.

2015-08-06 at 20:55 #6349AnonymousInactiveThanks Dan. Man, it would be awesome to incorporate this software somehow. Perhaps Peter could make it happen.
http://www.evilmadscientist.com/2012/stipplegen-weighted-voronoi-stippling-and-tsp-paths-in-processing/2015-08-06 at 21:10 #6350AnonymousInactiveCheck out the development version of the software. It has Voronoi stippling.
2015-08-08 at 22:05 #6351AnonymousInactiveI’ve been trying different combinations with the Voronoi stipples in the Master branch. The Evilmadscientist version looks different. I guess it’s just a matter of the right Voronoi settings for a particular picture.
2015-08-09 at 03:41 #6352AnonymousInactiveMy voronoi implementation isn’t a 1:1 copy of their work.
2015-08-12 at 21:22 #6353AnonymousInactiveOkay. I’ve been getting good results none-the-less.

This print is okay. For me, it is all about the subject matter and the image itself. I generated and decided to print.I just let it go. I’ll give this to the fella in the print. A welder for the New York State Canal Corporation. It’s time to get serious and get out there in the field. Get some good stuff.2015-08-12 at 22:01 #6356AnonymousInactiveVery nice!
Try more generations and less dots. It should move them around so that they are less of a grid.
2015-08-12 at 23:08 #6357AnonymousInactiveThanks Dan, I will try that for the Voronoi. Thanks
2015-08-17 at 22:45 #6358AnonymousInactiveI am discovering that I have no problem with a print finishing using an ‘ultra fine’ point Sharpie with an image that is 18×24 inches. I went up to 23×32 inches with a regular ‘fine’ point Sharpie and 60% through I paused and changed the ‘fine’ point Sharpie with a new marker(marker was running out) and there was obviously a marked changed in darkness right through the middle of the drawing. I wasn’t thinking.
It seems to me that the ‘Fine’ point Sharpie Marker lays down a considerable amount of ink, whereas the ‘Ultra-fine’ Sharpie point has the ability to outlast the ‘fine’ point in the long run.
This has been determined using a jpeg with what seems to be a 50-50% light/dark contrast.
Until Sharpie comes out with a larger bodied marker, have some restraint.2015-08-19 at 21:15 #6359AnonymousInactiveOkay….nevermind that last post. It might make a difference to someone. There may be a valid point.
This print is using the ‘Boxxy’ graphic. I love this. This is what I’m talking about. Fine Art. I can’t wait to find a truly great image to incorporate using this graphic. This image is of the Erie Canal seen looking through the back end of my Buoy Boat(through the pilot house, through interior and beyond) at the Lower end of Lock 28B in Newark, New York.(That’s right…..I have the best job in America)
