I’m interested in building a hypocycloid gearbox to gear down my stepper motors. I’ve seen a few designs on thingiverse, some of which I was involved with creating. I don’t know enough about engineering to do it right. Can you help? Let’s discuss and build some open hardware.
Finally got some code online that generates the hypocycloid cam gear profile.

So in the next week my R&D time is being spent on making the gearbox work.
This project is proving to be a real challenge.

The tolerances are really tight, the printer isn’t able to give me what I want. I may have to break down and get a real machinist to make me a metal positive.

I forgot to post this here: a hypocycloid generator I wrote. What’s new is this version gives you a DXF without forcing you to go through python.
