Makelangelo software update coming May 8, 2015
As part of the celebrations for the Bay Area Maker Faire we’ll be releasing software update 7.1.0 on May 5, 2015. Now we need your help to get language translations ready.
What’s changed
Makelangelo software is approaching a new milestone. We’ve cleaned up the interface and scoured the code to make sure all the menus are fully translated. The graphics engine has been rewritten to use hardware accelerated OpenGL, which means smoother behavior and larger pictures. I’m delighted that we’ve also added Voronoi Stipppling, which looks fantastic. I hope some day soon someone can interface Makelangelo software with the Eggbot.
Many special thanks go to Peter Colapietro for his fantastic contributions. He discovered the Makelangelo at MakeHardford, his local hackspace. He’s made the project Maven and Javadoc friendly, so it’s easier than ever for you to get started making contributions in the code. He’s also convinced me to switch to semantic versioning. I’ve applied it to everything in the Makelangelo github project.
How you can help
Makelangelo software can run in many languages. It would be great if it could run in your favorite language. Any translations I receive before May 6 will be included in the May 8 release. Japanese? Russian? Farsi? Chinese? Arabic? Awesome!
Get the v7.1.0-alpha release, then follow the steps about how to translate the software. Send us your translated file and we’ll add it to the release. Simple as that!
